Roane County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1992 to meet the needs of Roane County’s residents who need decent housing, cannot qualify for conventional house financing, and who are willing to partner with Habitat to achieve the goal of home ownership. To date, Roane County HFH has completed 34 houses providing housing for over 135 individuals who previously were living in substandard housing.
A Habitat house places undeveloped property on the tax rolls for an average appraisal of $75,000. During our short existence, the Roane County Property Tax base has been increased by over 2 million dollars, due to cash donations, volunteer efforts and homeowner cooperation.
Roane County Habitat is 501(c)(3) designated non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Houses are built mostly by volunteers. Annual reviews by Habitat for Humanity International have congratulated Roane County Habitat for above average quality of construction, and for the large number of houses completed in relationship to county demographics.
Roane County HFH is a 501(c)(3) corporation
